Soundhouse is an ambitious SHP-wide music project which brings young artists and creatives together with professional musicians and producers to create new and original music and media.

Many of our clients have a passion for making music.  For some it’s for pure enjoyment, social or therapeutic purposes, while others have a vocational interest in working in the industry, becoming musicians or learning music production.

Our young artists engage in a programme of recording sessions and live events to build up a portfolio of work and develop an invaluable skill set in music production, which will help facilitate further education goals, working opportunities and creative enterprises.

Last year we ran 45 sessions at our fully equipped professional studio in Sydenham and a number of other hostels where we have converted rooms into performance and recording spaces.

In addition to providing music opportunities to young people, we have also established sessions in our adult services, with production studio equipment available for use in our services in Camden, Westminster, Islington and Lewisham.

“I find the access to the music studio inspirational. Given access to music with this quality and scale, I have to commend them. SHP care, they really care.” - Theo, Soundhouse artist and client from our Lewisham Young People’s service.
