What we do Achieving Potential Achieving Potential Many of our clients want to enter some form of education, training, and employment. This is a crucial step in leaving homelessness behind for good, and everyone deserves this chance. We are committed to ensuring that all of our clients are offered support with their career goals and find employment in their chosen field. Our Achieving Potential programme gives our clients exactly what they need to get that next job. We help our clients learn new skills, complete accredited education or training courses, provide career and interview coaching, build their confidence and put them on course to independence. We also build partnerships with employers around London to help us upskill clients and place them into paid work. We're proud to walk our talk and are proud to now call at least 30 former clients our colleagues. Last year, despite the pandemic, we helped nearly 300 people complete education or training courses, and over 75% of our clients entering a new job remained in work for the contract length or over six months. The Employment Academy Our Employment Academy is a four-week programme made up of: 1:1 careers advice Personal development education Accredited training Employability workshops The Achieving Potential team delivers it alongside staff from Linkedin, who also support the programme financially. Our team of Employment Coordinators gives careers guidance and access to a range of career opportunities. With clear, individualised plans, our programme of group workshops and personalised one-to-one sessions ensure that participants get exactly what they need to become independent. Participants who complete the academy automatically qualify for our guaranteed job interview scheme, along with up to £500 to use towards their job goal. Employability Support grant Before you even attend an interview, you need skills training, ID, travel money, and look the part. This all costs money, and financial barriers like these can hinder the next step into work or a career. To ease this pressure, we created an Employability Support Grant. We offer our clients financial support for ANYTHING that will support them with their job goal. Things like ID, IT equipment, tools and training. We’ve even helped with equipment to start up a Cyprian food market stall and provided the tools needed to begin a caretaker role in a Primary School! Hire through SHP We're always looking to build employer partnerships to help our clients into work. Interested? Find out more here. Ongoing support Supporting our clients doesn’t stop on the first day of their new job. We believe that staying in touch and offering continued help and advice to our clients and their recruiter is essential for sustainable employment. That’s why over 75% of our clients entering a new job remained in work for the contract length or over 6 months. Give your support - our shop From homelessness to independence, you can support someone through our online shop. You can help someone take the next step in leaving homelessness behind for good by buying them coaching sessions, clothing or even an oyster top-up. This support and funding has helped me immensely! Having the opportunity to access funding for my career is great for people in my position. I have been able to purchase lots of things I wouldn’t have been able to before. Thank you. Chris came to Single Homeless Project after a long period of homelessness. We helped to fund, access and complete a six-week SIA training course so he could achieve his goal of working in security. We helped him with his CV, career advice and getting prepped for interviews with new clothing and travel money. Chris was extremely proactive and remained positive throughout his journey. After two interviews, Chris now works full time as a security guard.
