Single Homeless Project uses its expertise in tackling the underlying causes of homelessness and partners with businesses who can raise funds for our programmes, bring awareness to one of the most devastating social issues of our time, and volunteer to improve the lives, living conditions and outcomes of people impacted by a range of complex factors.

Adam's story

Adam had a hard start in life. He grew up in a rough part of East London in the '80s, lacking stability at home and school. After a stay in prison, he struggled to reintegrate back into society, and his relationship broke down. Left with no options, he ended up on the streets. Adam moved into one of our hostels in Northeast London, where he got the support he needed and deserved from our specialist teams. Today, Adam lives in his own home and hopes to work as a counsellor.

The University of Greenwich Galleries will host a fantastic new exhibition from 12 July to 1 August, exploring a variety of themes including identity and climate.
Haja's story

Haja fled to London after facing years of trauma after being targeted by the Sudanese Government because of her political stance and work as a journalist. Our Refugee Resettlement service supported Haja and her family the moment they arrived in the UK, giving them a home and the help needed to start a new life in London.

Understanding hostile architecture and its impact on homelessness in cities

Spikes on the floor. Bars across benches. Railings. Fences under stairs. Sloped seating. CCTV cameras. Hostile architecture can be subtle and difficult to spot, but once you understand its purpose and look around, you can see it everywhere. It's unwelcoming and unhelpful. So, what can you do to fight back?

Our history

Single Homeless Project was founded by a group of homeless people in the mid-1970s. Today, 40 years on, we still try to look at the world through our clients’ eyes.

Our Peer Mentoring Programme aims to model visible recovery from substance use, homelessness, mental health and offending behaviour.
