“I’ve always been driven to achieve my goals. Even though I’ve faced challenges, I’ve never lost sight of my dreams.”

Kieran came to one of our young people’s services two years ago after separating from his family. With a passion for aviation and a deep desire to become a pilot, he already had his sights set on the skies. With our support and Kieran's motivation, he is taking steps toward making his dream a reality and has moved into a flat of his own, somewhere he can call home.

“Becoming a pilot is something I’ve wanted to do from a young age, and I’ve already completed my aviation diploma to make it a reality.

“Single Homeless Project helped massively when exploring career opportunities. I had the motivation, but they really guided me on how to make the most of it. Thanks to their support, I have my security license, which allows me to work and start saving up for the Arline Transport Pilot License. It’s a long journey, but I know it’s possible.

“I’ve also had the chance to volunteer by being part of panel discussions, where I evaluate social work cases. It’s been a powerful and rewarding experience for me because I can look back on my own journey and use that to help shape the lives of others who are in similar situations. It’s had a huge impact on my mental well-being too. It’s given me this boost of confidence, this belief in myself that I’m capable of achieving things that felt uncertain before.”

After being at our services for two years, Single Homeless Project helped Kieran find a home, and he is now living independently and planning his future.

“Before anything else, I want to get a dog, hopefully a Border Collie. I know they’re a lot of work, but I love going on walks, and I have always been around by dogs while growing up. It was really challenging to find a pet-friendly flat, I feel so happy to have got the exact place I wanted.

“My flat is more than just a place to live; it's a home, a sanctuary where I can focus on my dreams. Having my own place has made a huge difference in my life. It’s a space where I can lay the foundation for the road ahead.”
