If you are in an emergency housing situation and are about to be made homeless, or are already homeless, then you should contact the Shelter emergency line on 0808 800 4444.
Your next step should be to contact your local Homeless Person's Unit. Use Shelter's Emergency Housing Advice before you go, or contact the advice line to make sure you understand what the council's obligations are.
