SHP was among the first agencies in the UK to pioneer the Housing First model with a pilot scheme in Camden in 2013, and it has since become an integral part of our approach. Today we deliver Housing First services in Islington, Camden, Newham and Redbridge.

Housing First places entrenched rough sleepers with complex needs and vulnerabilities in their own home, with no pre-conditions or expectations of abstinence. It provides a platform for the development of personal resilience and recovery, with intensive support available to build on each individual’s strengths and aspirations. Our evolving network of Housing First services is funded by a mix of sources including local authorities, MHCLG, Big Lottery, Comic Relief, and private donors.

Our Fulfilling Lives in Islington and Camden (FLIC) service also delivers a Housing First approach for some of its most vulnerable clients. Clients are offered a home of their own and the intensive, wrap around support that enables them to address their complex needs and establish a life free of offending.

We also deliver a Pan-London Housing First service supporting female ex-offenders called Project Kali. The service which works in partnership with Advance, a female-facing organisation which provides emotional and practical support to women in crisis, and identifies women with multiple disadvantage who are at risk of homelessness following their release from prison.
