SHP was among the first agencies in the UK to pioneer the Housing First model, having piloted it in Camden in 2013, and it has since become an integral part of our approach. Today we deliver Housing First services in Islington, Camden, Newham and Redbridge.

Housing First relies on placing people with complex needs and vulnerabilities in their own home, with no pre-conditions or expectations of abstinence. It provides a platform for the development of personal resilience and recovery, with intensive support available to build on each individual’s strengths and aspirations. Our evolving network of Housing First services is funded by a mix of sources including local authorities, MHCLG, Big Lottery, Comic Relief, and private donors.

Our Fulfilling Lives in Islington and Camden (FLIC) service also delivers a Housing First approach for some of its most vulnerable clients. This includes a Female Ex-offender Housing First service named Project Kali, which works in partnership with Advance, a women-only organisation providing emotional and practical support to women in crisis, to identify women with multiple disadvantage who are at risk of homelessness following their release from prison. Clients are offered a home of their own and the intensive, wrap around support that enables them to address their complex needs and establish a life free of offending.
