As the world is turned upside down by a global pandemic and by anti-racist protests at the death of George Floyd, here at Single Homeless Project we want to celebrate just how much there is to be proud of.
Single Homeless Project is a London wide Charity working to prevent homelessness and help vulnerable and socially excluded people to transform their lives.
Each day across all 32 London boroughs, our staff work with individuals to tackle the underlying causes of homelessness, such as poor mental health or drug and alcohol dependency.
As well as providing support and accommodation we utilise the power of creativity and recognise there is an importance in giving vulnerable people access to creative opportunities, a voice and rights to improve the terms of participation in our society.
Client Sam, aged 23 from SHP support service in Islington created this piece to celebrate the lives, experiences and joys of all of SHP’s LGBTQIA + family! This piece was created to commemorate the Stonewall riots in 1969, where the LGBT movement Pride all began. In honour of the movement the T-shirt campaign has launched on National Coming Out Day, October 11th 2020 to promote the self-affirmation, dignity, equality of lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender people across SHP services.
All profits will go to Single Homeless Project and client artist Sam!
