Fulfilling Lives in Islington and Camden

Fulfilling Lives in Islington & Camden (FLIC) has now closed its doors. However, all of our news, learnings and reports can be found here, and our clients' voices and films can be found here.

FLIC was an eight-year Lottery funded learning programme, designed to support people experiencing multiple disadvantage and affect system change to improve the experience and outcomes for people accessing services.

Too often the voices of people experiencing multiple disadvantage aren't heard. Putting clients at the centre of everything we do was key to our work. Our support service was intensive, trauma-informed and led by the experiences and insights of our clients.

We worked in partnership with statutory and voluntary agencies across both boroughs to improve services for people with multiple needs and drive systemic change, influencing how services are designed and delivered.

If you have any questions, please email Lucy Campbell ([email protected]), SHP's head of Multiple Disadvantage Transformation.

In response to challenges noted in helping people access support for mental ill health, homelessness, and
substance misuse, FLIC collaborated with Camden and Islington Foundation Trust and local partner services
to develop the Islington Multiple Disadvantage Forum (IMDF) pilot project. IMDF is a monthly multi-agency
meeting bringing a range of services together to discuss cases in detail and develop action plans. The main
aims of the IMDF are to:

  • Improve pathways through services for people who experience multiple disadvantage and explore the
barriers to accessing local services to establish whether system flex could improve access to support.
  • Provide a supportive environment for practitioners from a range of services to discuss challenging cases and provide opportunities for collaboration to enhance support options for individuals.

Here are activities that take place before, during and after IMDF meetings...

At the time of the Praxis evaluation, two of the monthly forum meetings had taken place, with two more scheduled in subsequent months. As such, the evaluation provides an illustration of the learning from the design, set up and early delivery phase rather than comprehensive findings from the whole life cycle of the pilot. Download the report and find our learnings and recommendations for the IMDF, Partner Services and Commissioners here.
