News & stories Corporate fundraisers go the extra ‘kilometres’ Asurion Europe, one of SHP’s corporate partners, created their very own fundraising challenge Kilometres for Compassion, aiming to collectively walk, run and cycle more than 1,000 kilometres around Richmond Park in just three hours. Over 50 people – including employees’ family members and friends - got involved on the day, with the youngest being only two years old! With everyone wearing their Team SHP sportswear, the participants created a sea of pink across the park - with many passersbys intrigued about what was going on. Raising over £3,000 for the charity Overall, the team covered more than 1,400 miles – with one employee cycling 100km single-handedly – collectively they raised over £3,000 for the charity.David Algie, who works for Asurion, created and organised the challenge. He said “The event really brought us all together as a team. Everyone enjoyed the challenge, had fun and, most importantly, helped us raise vital for SHP, our chosen charity partner, who provide Londoners with a place to call home and the chance to lead a fulfilling life." "It was great seeing everyone get active and challenge themselves to do something which they may not have done for years. I was really proud of everyone who took up the challenge. I’m already looking forward to Kilometres for compassion 2019!” The atmosphere was electric Tara Carty, SHP's Corporate Partnerships Co-ordinator, said: "It was a fantastic team effort from Asurion, with all their families coming out to support them. The atmosphere was electric and I loved cheering everyone on from base camp and providing them with much-needed water and snacks before they headed off for more kilometres. David's hard work ensured the day a huge success, even providing everyone with a medal - a lovely touch. Thank you to everyone at Asurion that gave up their time or who donated. I’m already looking forward to working with you again for next summer's event”.Donate to Asurion’s effort. If you would like to take part in a challenge event or create your own, contact [email protected] for more information.
