This festive season, clients from SHP’s services in Redbridge have delivered gifts to The Samaritans Purse as part of their annual shoe box campaign.

Melanie Huxtable, David Evans and Dawn Phillips delivered the presents to the international relief organisation. The shoe boxes will be delivered to children living in war torn countries across the world.

Melanie said: “As a client of SHP I have been helped enormously to rebuild my life and the support has been fantastic. It felt really good to get involved with the Samaritans Purse and give something back in this way.”

Fellow gift giver Dawn added: “This project has meant so much to me and helping to prepare the gift boxes with toys for the children has been so fulfilling and worthwhile.”

SHP Redbridge works with homeless and vulnerable people, preventing homelessness and working to reduce social exclusion and isolation.

Nick Thompson, support worker for SHP, said: “Our clients got a great deal of satisfaction from making up the shoeboxes for the appeal. They have already started talking about how next year will be bigger and better, which is a testament to their goodwill and generosity.”
