Everyone knows gardening keeps you fit, but spending quality time in the garden can also have enormous benefits for mental wellbeing, personal development and recovery.

As well as offering the chance to learn practical skills, taking part in group gardening sessions helps people gain confidence, reduce their isolation, develop their social and communication skills and prepare for living independently.

Clients also tell us that the sessions have helped them to engage with support, address the issues that led to their homelessness and make positive changes in their lives.

From growing vegetables, planting flowers or woodworking to simply enjoying a sense of wellbeing in a safe green space, there is something for everyone to enjoy.

Since I started tending to these allotments my depression has vanished. I don’t feel sad or suicidal anymore.
