Hey team,

Very soon I’ll be setting off into the wild and windy world of the distant north to walk Hadrian’s Wall. I shall stumble my way across 84 miles*of steep hills and rough terrain with nothing but two knackered knees and a pair of weather-beaten (aka leaky) walking boots to carry me. It’s gonna be tough**.

So I’m hoping some of you out there will be kind enough to sponsor my madness and make it all worthwhile. I’m raising money for the Single Homeless Project, an incredible charity that does so much to help those in need.

The increasing rate of people being made homeless is a huge and complicated issue – it’s the tip of the iceberg of all the health, financial and relationship problems we all face, and it’s a shocking reminder of just how lucky some of us are. Tackling homelessness is an enormous challenge – and it’s getting worse. While the number of people being made homeless is rising, services to support them are being slashed.

Charities like SHP rely on donations to help people deal with the root causes of their problems and to provide them with the stability and support we all need.

So please give whatever you can to help some of the most vulnerable people in our society. My aching feet and I will thank you for ever.

*** Special offer *** Anyone who donates £20 or more can declare a challenge for me to complete along the way. So far suggestions include singing a silly song, saying something ridiculous to a stranger and reciting a verse in Latin (took me ages to work out why several people suggested this one, apparently old Hadrian new a thing or two about Latin. Clearly, I don’t.). But feel free to demand whatever type of ridiculousness you want (you know me). All challenges will be filmed for your enjoyment.

*Or more, depending on how lost I get. What, me? Lost? Surely not… OK, make that 840 miles.

** My current fitness level involves getting out of breath whilst walking from the sofa to the fridge and back again, so trekking over real hills for days on end may be slightly … errm … tricky. Flying carpet, anyone?

Anything you can spare is much appreciated. Thank you so much!
