The Single Homeless Project (SHP) is a London-wide charity working to prevent homelessness and help vulnerable and socially excluded people to transform their lives.

Each day across 20 London boroughs, SHP work with individuals to tackle the underlying causes of homelessness, such as poor mental health or drug and alcohol dependency. From supporting people in crisis to helping people take the final steps towards independence and employment, they make a difference to 8,000 lives every year.

The Opportunities Programme provides a safe, flexible and inclusive way for people to nurture their personal wellbeing and development, breaking down stigma and isolation and supporting recovery through involvement learning. It is the vital step to engagement and building confidence, but most importantly helps address the issues that made a person homeless in the first place. Use of time is key in recovery.

Your donation would go towards supporting the following projects:
— Micro Farms: spending quality time in the garden can have enormous benefits for mental wellbeing, personal development and recovery. Each hostel is encouraged to run a programme and grow their own fruit and vegetables and use them in cooking workshops within the hostel.
— Sport & Wellbeing: being active is one of the most important things people can do to maintain health and wellbeing. It is particularly good for mental health and SHP offers structured sessions like yoga, fitness sessions, an over 55’s programme and football.
— Education, Training and Employment: dedicated coordinators provide expert advice on CV writing, interview techniques and finding a job.
