Facing homelessness, multiple disadvantage and often violence and abuse makes our clients incredibly vulnerable at the best of times. However, amid the Coronavirus pandemic, domestic abuse cases have risen, putting many people in incredibly dangerous situations and making it increasingly challenging to support them.

To address the heightened risk, FLIC worked in partnership with St Mungo's, Standing Together, and Homeless Link to create guidance for staff in homeless settings.

Included in the guidelines is advice on;

  • Establishing where domestic abuse and sexual violence has occurred
  • Making contact
  • Conducting phone and face-to-face welfare checks
  • How to make a visit
  • what to do if the client discloses abuse
  • How to get support.
