Unheard Holler gets a shout at Internet Awards

16 June 2012

SHP’s client blog, Unheard Holler, features in the shortlist for the Nominet Internet Awards, designed to reward projects which ensure the internet offers a secure, open, accessible and diverse experience for all.

Our partners OnRoad Media are in line for an award in the Online Training and Education category, to recognise their work supporting SHP clients to shoot videos and write blog posts in response to the social issues they face such as housing, mental health and addiction.

OnRoad Media won a grant to set up a mobile Citizen Journalism training centre, providing laptops and training materials to use in SHP services to make it possible for clients to speak out online. Unheard Holler is now a key part of SHP’s digital inclusion programme aimed at breaking down barriers for our clients to get online.

The blog also gives clients a forum to share the ideas they’re passionate about and to express perspectives often overlooked in the mainstream press. Bloggers tackled issues such as the record highs in unemployment, deprivation in Hackney and the police response to rioting.

Subscribe to Unheard Holler today to learn more about the experiences and opinions of those who are tackling homelessness with the help of SHP.
