Channel the Olympic Spirit and Run to the Beat for SHP

16 August 2012

On Sunday 28 October 2012 at 9.30am Run to the Beat powered by Nike + returns with a route that starts and finishes at the 02 Arena and takes runners 13.1 miles around leafy Greenwich. Last year 19,000 runners got their trainers on for charity and collectively raised over two and a half million pounds in sponsorship.

Anyone can run, so whether you’re a fitness fanatic or a charity fun-runner, we’d like you to sign up to support SHP. There are only a few spots left so grab them while you can!

Anyone running for us will receive our full support with training tips, guidance on how to raise sponsorship online, an SHP vest to race in and a bottle of bubbly waiting at the finish line!

We only have ten guaranteed places, so join the team soon! Or sign up individually to support SHP at www.runtothebeat.co.uk.

Running for SHP

Aside from sponsorship, running as part of the SHP team is completely free. A typical sponsorship pledge is in the region of £300 - £500 per runner, with a minimum target of £250. In return for your support, we’ll provide you with:

· A stylish SHP running vest so we can cheer you on from the sidelines

· Training and nutrition tips to help you prepare

· Help with online sponsorship

· Champagne as you victoriously cross the finish line!

You can set up your own sponsorship page on line at www.justgiving.com

What your money will go towards

SHP wants to ensure that all our clients have the support they need to develop greater confidence and raise their self-esteem. This means delivering services in addition to our core accommodation and support schemes, to help clients develop as individuals and groups.

Over the past year, for example, we have been providing opportunities for clients to express themselves through art. We currently run two major projects, Transformations and Urban Arts Project.

These projects comprise workshops with professional artists, able to enthuse newcomers as well as those who have been creating art for years. The workshops encourage clients to explore their own creativity and produce something remarkable together.

In order to sustain these projects, SHP has to raise extra funds, in addition to those used to deliver core services. Every penny raised through the Run to the Beat powered by Nike+ will help to secure the projects’ long-term future.

If you’d like to run as part of our team please contact SHP on 020 7520 8660 or email: info@shp.org.uk

Running a half marathon  for charity will be a great achievement - with these sponsorship and training tips, you'll be well set to take on the challenge.

We look forward to hearing from you!
