What we do
Substance use
Accommodation based services
A range of specialist hostels provide supported accommodation for homeless people with on-going poly-substance use problems.
Each resident has their own bedroom and shared use of kitchens and bathrooms. Some of the hostels offer en-suite accommodation.
The majority of these residents have been excluded from other services and may be placed under ASBO's or be at risk of offending.
On-site staff teams provide 24-hour cover to residents and also work alongside community based treatment, health and care services, the police and probation services.
Services are designed to bring stability and structure to the lives of these residents, helping to minimise harm from substance use and enabling those who are ready, to access appropriate treatment.
Floating support services
We offer support for individuals and their families experiencing instability due to drug or alcohol use.
Clients may be in recovery or engaged in on-going substance use and require support to begin or maintain a tenancy, or to begin or maintain treatment.
To help those under community sentences incorporating a Drug Rehabilitation requirement, we work alongside criminal justice services to support the client to comply with the terms of their order.
Mental health
We manage specialist hostels and permanent supported housing for those with severe and enduring mental health problems.
Each resident has their own bedroom and shared use of kitchens and bathrooms. Some of the hostels offer en-suite accommodation.
Clients often have a history of multiple hospital admissions combined with non-compliance with medication and non-engagement with services.
The accommodation provides a supportive environment in which to carry out a detailed assessment of needs. We then work jointly with mental health services to help residents develop independent living skills.
We work with residents to plan their resettlement and take referrals from Primary Care Trusts, hospital wards and community mental health teams.
Offenders
We provide support for offenders including prolific offenders, MAPPA clients and those with a background of substance misuse.
The work focuses on helping clients to secure accommodation, prevent imminent eviction and provides pre-tenancy training and resettlement support at the start of a tenancy.
As with other services, we work closely with criminal justice, treatment agencies, housing providers and employment and training agencies.
Our offender services help to reduce crime and anti-social behaviour, prevent homelessness and reduce harm from substance use.
Young people
The service supports young people (predominantly 16-18-year-olds, many of whom are care-leavers) to make the transition to independence, prevent homelessness and access jobs, skills training, education and health services.
Clients are also assisted to find and move into supported or general needs housing as required.
Generic services
Floating support
The generic services support clients with a range of needs who may be at immediate risk of homelessness by helping them with issues as such as dealing with rent arrears, repairs and neighbour nuisance.
Our support workers bring in specialist skills to address underlying problems such as mental ill-health, substance use and domestic violence.
By working closely with the client and other agencies we can provide a package of support with the aim of promoting independence, social and economic wellbeing and greater inclusion in the community.
Shared supported housing
We manage a range of housing for homeless people, primarily with substance use or mental health problems.
Each resident has their own bedroom and shared use of kitchens and bathrooms. Support and housing staff are based at the properties at specified times throughout the week.
Support is typically focused on helping residents make the most of their money, accessing employment and training and other services, and help to develop the life skills needed to live independently.
We also assist residents to find permanent accommodation when they are ready to move on.
