Green Lane
The second stage in the Redbridge Places of Change Pathway,Green Lane is a 12-bed project providing a maximum of two years’ accommodation for people who have been homeless and completed an assessment at Jason Lee House.
Green Lane Service Aims
By providing a safe and secure environment the service aims to help clients bring stability to their lives, to enable those who are ready to access appropriate treatment services and to assist clients with their transition into independent living.
Green Lane works within a harm minimisation framework and a recovery and strengths model.
The service aims to:
- Provide specialist and high-level interventions for residents
- Ensure that residents have access to primary healthcare services and appropriate specialist services, such as drug treatment or mental health
- Assist residents to access and sustain learning and achievement opportunities
- Work in partnership with external agencies to provide the best opportunities and choices for residents
- Provide advice and information around future housing options including making referrals into longer-term supported housing, private rented accommodation and, in some cases, priority need status.
Green Lane Referral Criteria
This service is for:
- People who have previously been street homeless
- People who have been engaged in street based activity
- People who may have previous offending behaviour
- People with ongoing needs in relation to drug and alcohol use
- People with low-level mental ill health
Applicants must be single, over 18 years old and have completed an assessment at Jason Lee House.All referrals are made from Jason Lee House.

Green Lane Accommodation
Accommodation is in single ensuite rooms spread over two floors,with a communal kitchen on each floor with cooking and laundry facilities.
There is a shared balcony on each floor providing an outdoor area for clients.
The project is accessible by a single staircase and there is no lift facility.

An important focus of Green Lane is to provide a safe and secure environment, to help clients bring stability to their lives.
Clients are supported through keywork sessions with project workers. To promote social relationships and meaningful use of time, clients are encouraged to take part in activities such as SHP’s art projects or learning and achievement events.
The project works closely with community health, care and support services, police, probation and the local community.
The views of clients are actively encouraged and facilitated through regular house meetings, a suggestion box, complaints procedure, questionnaires, exit interviews and key work meetings.The tenure is by Licence Agreement.
House Rules
Clients will be issued with a licence agreement and a set of house rules. These will be explained when prospective residents are interviewed. They include rules on smoking,which is only permitted in clients’ bedrooms.
The service operates within SHP’s drug policy,which covers the use of all drugs, including illegal or controlled drugs.The visitors’ policy is reviewed regularly.
