Many drug and alcohol users are motivated to start their recovery journey by hearing and learning from others who have experienced addiction themselves.
Talking to people who understand your situation and allowing them to support you can be invaluable on your journey. It’s well known that people who access mutual aid groups or peer support have better success because the message of hope is contagious.
SHP’s Recovery Peers exist to inspire others on their recovery journey, showing that recovery is possible through promoting activities that support a life free from addiction.
The Recovery Peers run weekly drop-ins at the following Drug & Alcohol Services:
Wednesdays 2 - 4pm at Camden Alcohol Service, 7 – 8 Early Mews, Arlington Road NW1 7HG
Thursdays 2 - 4pm at The Margarete Centre, 108 Hampstead Road NW1 2LS
Thursdays 2 - 4pm at Daleham Gardens, 5 Daleham Gardens NW3 5BY*
The Recovery Drop-ins provide a safe and confidential space for those aiming for recovery to meet and talk with others and to access information about recovery activities happening in Camden. There’s no agenda and no referral needed.
Some people try to stop using drugs or alcohol by themselves, without support or treatment. For some people this can work out OK, but for many it's really hard. So the best place to start is by finding out about all the support that's on offer, as well as hearing and learning from other people's Recovery stories.
* The Daleham Gardens drop-in is not running at the moment but should be back soon.
