Accessing Our Services
Our services fall broadly into two categories - accommodation-based services and floating support services.
Accommodation services
To be eligible for SHP accommodation services, clients must:
- Be single without dependent children living with them
- Be homeless or in housing need and without the income to access private rented accommodation
- Have a local connection to the borough they wish to apply to
- Be in need of ongoing support to enable them to sustain more independent living
Each service may have additional criteria, and the ways into the service vary according to the borough and the type of service. There is no single route. Each has a designated referral path, usually featuring a range of statutory and voluntary agencies. This is set out clearly in the Service Directory.
Floating support services
To be eligible for SHP floating support services, clients must:
- Have a local connection to the borough they wish to apply to
- Be in need of ongoing support to enable them to sustain more independent living
Our floating support services generally have an open referral system, so individuals can refer themselves, and there is no restriction on the agencies who can refer clients to us. Some specialist services (such as services for young people or offenders) have designated referral paths. As above, this is set out clearly in the Service Directory.
