About Us
SHP was established in 1977 by a group of homeless people who had been sleeping rough in London. We are a registered charity and company limited by guarantee.
We employ 200 staff and offer a range of housing and support services, including:
• High support hostels
• Shared houses providing temporary accommodation and support
• Self-contained properties offering permanent supported housing
• Tenancy sustainment (floating support) services for people who are at risk of homelessness
Last year 2000 people used our services.
Our Mission
Our mission is to reduce poverty, social exclusion and homelessness and to make a lasting improvement to the quality of life of our clients.
Our Values
In seeking ways to achieve our mission and vision, we will be guided by our core values. These can be summarised in the following way:
Inclusive
We will continue to develop wide ranging services which are accessible to and meet the needs of London's diverse communities particularly those service users with the most complex needs.
Creative
We are open to new ideas and change. We will listen to our stakeholders, staff and service users and work collaboratively and in partnership with others to develop and deliver wide-ranging services to meet service users needs.
Responsive
We respond to individuals, to communities, to changing social policy and to the demands of our partners. We learn from our experience. We analyse the data we collect, using this information to influence our own and others' direction.
Credible
We maintain credibility with our stakeholders and service users by employing the best staff and investing in their development; by listening to others and striving to achieve excellence, efficiency and good value for money in everything we do. We are not afraid to be honest about what we believe and why. We seek to ensure that we maintain a service user focus in everything that we do.
Open
We communicate with staff, service users and stakeholders in a way that is transparent and honest. We are committed to promoting respect, rights and responsibilities.
SHP has recognised that in our day-to-day operations we inevitably impact on the environment in a number of ways.
One of our key business objectives is to do all we can to limit the damage we do as an organisation, and to encourage individual members of staff and clients to do likewise.
Everyone can make a difference, however small, and SHP is totally committed to doing as much as possible in our control to minimise our environmental impact.
